Los Angeles/Canadian-Media: Chloe Zhao’s 'Nomadland' would be released directly on Disney+ streaming platform in the UK and Ireland on April 30 before it becomes available to cinemas to program when they open, said Disney, which is not expected to be before May 17, media reports said.

Starring Frances McDormand, 'Nomadland' won the best drama and best director prizes at last Sunday’s Golden Globes awards and is likely to feature heavily in the Bafta and Oscar nominations scheduled to take place on April 11 and April 26 respectively.
It had already won Golden Lion when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2020.
worldwide rights to the film were picked up by the then-Fox Searchlight in February 2019.
Based on the non-fiction book 'Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder', 'Nomadland' is a story of woman in her 60s, who after losing everything, embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad.
Nomadland opened in the US in select IMAX theatres on January 29 before opening in theatres and streaming simultaneously on Disney’s Hulu platform on February 19.
