Over 40 ISIS militants killed by Iraqi forces in South of Mosul

Iraq/Canadian-Media: 42 members of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia)  were killed by Iraqi army in south of the city of Mosul in the country's north, Yehia Rasool, the spokesman for the country's commander-in-chief, said on Sunday, media reports said.

Although the Iraqi government had declared victory over the Islamic State in 2017 after three years of fighting against the group, still some pockets of militants remain in certain areas of the country.  

According to the spokesman, the operation was backed by the international coalition.
