An anticipated 500 participants from across the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) would attend the festival of Diwali -- deeply rooted in cultural and spiritual values within the South Asian community -- signifying the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Tickets for celebrations of Diwali festival would reportedly cost $200/ per head. This event would be featuring a gourmet dinner, entertainment, silent auctions, henna art, raffle prizes, dance, music, DJ and more. Manj Musik, Lead Vocalist & Music Composer from the group RDB (Rhythm, Dhol, Bass) -- formed in 1997 by three British Sikh brothers -- would provide entertainment this year to Oakville Diwali Gala guests. ![]() RDB’s popularity is due to its western genres style blending with traditional Punjabi beats and vocals. During the past three years, communities and sponsors had supported the Oakville Diwali Events in raising nearly half a million to support the needs of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). Dedicated healthcare professionals of the hospital always need to be equipped with modern equipment to help patients in need of life-changing care, but government funding and Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) cannot provide for everything. Sponsors and participants of the Oakville Hospital Diwali Gala come forward as a community to support growing and changing healthcare needs of the medical and healthcare professionals of OTMH.
“The Oakville Diwali Gala has become the most sought-after event in the Halton Region and is expected to raise $200,000, which will help in securing state of the art equipment to assist our very best healthcare professionals. The community support and generosity would ensure that the good work of our healthcare professionals remains the best in the world and our community efforts are recognized in making that happen,” Sona Khanna, the Event Chair was quoted by media.
