Toronto, Jan 28 (Canadian-Media): The 69th Republic Day was celebrated Toronto on 26 January 2018 by Dinesh Bhatia, Consulate General of India, Toronto at the Consulate premises with traditional enthusiasm.
Rendition of the National Anthem by large gathering of Indians, persons of Indian origin and friends of India followed the unfurling of the Indian flag by Bhatia.
After welcoming the audience on the occasion, Bhatia read out President of India’s address which he head delivered to the nation on the eve of Republic Day.
Members of Provincial Parliament of Ontario also attended this event.

The President’s address, inter-alia, highlighted for justice to women, physical and cognitive development of our children, promoting and expansion of education system, and building a culturally vibrant nation.
The address also emphasized that lives of India’s hardworking farmers should be improved, India’s strategic manufacturing sector should be modernized and strengthened and poverty should be eradicated.
Speaking about forthcoming visit of Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau's visit to Canada in February 2018, Bhatia recalled unprecedented participation of 60,000 people in India Day Parade on 20 August 2017 , and of 10,000 people in the celebration of International Day of Yoga.
Drawing attention to the fact that the Consulate has been striving to provide best possible services to Indians and Indo-Canadians, Bhatia added that o reach out to the community, Consulate will reportedly undertake more consular camps in GTA (Toronto and adjoining cities), Ontario as well in other provinces.
