Ottawa, Dec 1 (Canadian-Media): Weather warning for much of southern and central Ontario had been issued by Environment Canada Sunday night, media reports said.
The wintry mix to the area started Sunday morning due to a low-pressure system. By Sunday afternoon the freezing rain or ice pellets will be changed into snow, expected to fall through Sunday night and tapering off Monday morning.
The reduced visibility and blowing snow caused by strong wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour.
The storm is being monitored by the staff of the the City of Toronto and anti-ice trucks salt trucks have already begun work.
Residents in York Region have been warned to slow down and give themselves plenty of extra time and space on the roads when driving.
