Wuhan (China), Feb 6 (Canadian-Media): Departure of a chartered aircraft from Wuhan, China to bring home Canadians stuck the coronavirus-afflicted region, according to flight tracking data, media reports said.
Airlift departs Wuhan to repatriate Canadians
Only 194 out of 211 people who were expected to board the flight today following a one-day delay due to bad weather conditions in Vietnam arrived at the airport for the flight.
Of those, 34 are minors and 13 are permanent residents of Canada.
Arrival of the Canadian flight in Trenton, Ontario is expected to be early hours Friday morning after a stopover in Vancouver, Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne said during a news conference Thursday.
Due to a small number of people changing their mind in the last minute and therefore, did not show up for the flight. About two-thirds of the Canadians who want to come home will be repatriated between this flight and spots set aside for Canadians on a subsequent American flight.
A second chartered flight carrying the remaining Canadians is expected to leave Wuhan on Monday, Champagne said.
