Describing himself as "An ally of the light — not of the darkness," Biden vowed to implement a national strategy to contain the covid-19 pandemic, to care about people, including people who dislike him as president, and end this season of darkness and added, "It's a moment that calls for hope and light and love. Hope for our futures, light to see our way forward, and love for one another." Biden called for most attention-grabbing development for a national mask requirement during the pandemic. "We'll have a national mandate to wear a mask — not as a burden, but to protect each other," Biden said. "It's a patriotic duty."
