Ottawa, Feb 3 (Canadian-Media): Chinese government's agreed protocol to allow only Canadian residents with kids to take part in the airlift, barring permanent residents without children to leave the quarantine zone to prevent spread of virus, was stated by Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne, during a news conference Monday in Ottawa, media reports said.

This decision of China is consistent with Chinese protocols to allow repatriation of other countries' citizens, Champagne said.
Although federal officials were on the ground in Wuhan to coordinate the evacuation of Canadians trapped in the coronavirus-affected region of the country, decision regarding the firm timeline of the flight was still not made.
"This is a multiple-step process, which takes time," Champagne said.
An announcement was made by Global Affairs Canada on Sunday that the Canadians to be evacuated from the Hubei province as well as government officials and air crew involved in the process of airlift, will be quarantined for two weeks at the Trenton, Ont., military base upon their arrival in Canada as a measure of precaution.
Canada has chartered a plane and is awaiting the necessary approval from the Chinese government.
To date, 325 Canadians have desired to participate in the airlift.
