Washington, Feb 5 (Canadian-Media): The impeachment trial came to end today, after five months of hearings and investigations, United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump was acquitted of both the impeachment charges by U.S. Senate, media reports said.

Two impeachment charges against Trump were his dealings with Ukraine, and that he abused his power and obstructed Congress to aid his own re-election.
It was stated by many Republican senators that it should be left to the discretion of the voters to decide what should happen next, an approach that Trump’s defense attorneys had repeatedly suggested as the right approach.
Senate fell well short of the two-thirds margin that required to remove Trump from his office that had threatened the presidency.
“It is, therefore, ordered and adjudged that the said Donald John Trump be, and he is hereby, acquitted of the charges in said articles,” declared Chief Justice Roberts.
