Ottawa, May 8 (Canadian-Media): With the impact of COVID-19 on the economic front, Canada lost more than three million jobs during the crisis, causing the unemployment rate to soar to 13 percent compared with 7.8 percent in March, Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey data released Friday said.

Compared with 7.8 percent employment rate in March, April unemployment rate soared to 13 percent, said Statistics Canada, the second-highest only to December 1982, when it reached 13.1 percent..
Apart from job losses, COVID-19 impacted those employed with access to less than half their usual hours which meant people both no longer employed or working far less resulted in a staggering 5.5 million as of the week of April 12.
All provinces have been hard hit by the crisis. Employment dropped in all provinces for the second month running, with losses of more than 10 percent everywhere.
