#PearsonConventionCentre Toronto, Aug 17 (Canadian-Media): Consulate General of India, Toronto office hosted a reception dinner on 15th Aug at Pearson Convention Centre, Mississauga to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day of India. Several dignitaries, including Doug Ford, the Premier of Ontario, Patrick Brown, the Mayor of Brampton, Kathleen Wynne, Member of Provincial Parliament for Don Valley West, were present among the gathering of nearly 200 people.
Saifullah Khan, the acting Consul General of India, Toronto said that this day is observed to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who fought for the independence of India. He also informed the audience of the forthcoming Independence Day parade to be held at the downtown, Toronto on Aug 18, hosted by Panorama India, and added that with the support of his office the parade this year is expected to be participated by more than 75,000 people.
Khan also informed the audience that his office would be observing on Oct 2nd, the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.
