Toronto, Jan 26 (Canadian-Media): The Consulate General of India, Toronto office celebrated the 72nd Republic Day of India on 26th January 2021 at 10 am with the virtual Flag Hoisting ceremony by Apoorva Srivastava, Consul General of India, Toronto.

The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by Srivastava's speech.
Apoorva greeted all Indians, Indo-Canadians, and friends of India on the auspicious occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India on 26th January.
She then said that 71 years ago on 26th Jan, our constitution came into effect. This enlightened our foundation of the Republic, and guides not only our governance but also forms the aspiration of our vision of liberty, justice, and equality for all Indians.
The COVID-19 Pandemic has touched all our lives, said Apoorva, and that no one is immune and we are all in this together. While 2020 was the year of the virus. and 2021 is the year of vaccine and of hope.
She added that she is extremely proud of the Indians and the Indo-Canadian community here in Canada for working at the forefront during the pandemic and supporting the community.
She would like to take this opportunity, she said in congratulating each and every member of the diaspora on India's Republic day and added that being global citizens and born in India, they would always remain special.
Throughout the pandemic, the consulate had continued to serve the community whether by facilitating providing emergency evacuation or by continuing to provide regular consular services in most trying conditions, and added that the consulate would continue to do its best in serving the community and build a deeper bond between the two nations.
Apoorva ended her greetings by once again wishing everyone on this auspicious occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India hoping that all of us remain safe and healthy and wished long-live India-Canada friendship.
