Alberta observes Sept as Artist month; When arts thrive, Albertans thrive: Leela Sharon

Alberta, Aug 29 (Canadian-Media): The following statement was issued by Leela Sharon Aheer, Alberta's Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women, on Month of the Artist:

“September is Month of the Artist in Alberta!

“Artists’ work enriches our lives, promotes creativity and innovation, and contributes to a more diversified economy. When the arts thrive, Albertans thrive. Businesses, investments and livelihoods all benefit from a stronger arts and culture sector.

“During Month of the Artist, the ministry will be selecting an Artist in Residence as an arts ambassador. This is part of our commitment to recognize artists’ contributions to the province.
“We have many talented artists in Alberta whose resiliency has been tested during the past few months. It is critical that we support our artists in the province, including online and at small, in-person events throughout Alberta Culture Days this September. “To all artists in Alberta, thank you for your dedication to your craft, your passion to create and enriching the lives of others. I ask all Albertans to join me in recognizing and supporting local artists during Month of the Artist!”
