OECD. Image credit: Website Founded in 1961, OECD, an intergovernmental economic organisation with 36 member countries has a mission to promote economic progress and world trade. About 85,000 economic immigrants a year settle in Canada but their integration into the country falls short of Canada's economical expectations. Newcomers recruitment and settlement directly by individual provinces often are more responsive to labour market needs than the federal programs. The OECD study suggested that Global Skills Strategy be used as a template speed up temporary labour programs for other categories. Global Skills Strategy was recently launched in Canada with an aim to promote its global investment and to speed up entry for individuals with specific skills and top international talents.
