Toronto, Dec 12 (Canadian-Media): Kawhi Leonard was given a standing ovation from the Toronto crowd when he received a championship ring, largest-ever NBA championship ring, with more than 640 diamonds from the raptors in a pre-game ceremony on Wednesday in Toronto, as being the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2019 NBA Finals, media reports said.
MVP is an annual honour which a given to a single player in a sports league at the end of a season, as voted by other players, sports writers, and fans.
Leonard, the first Finals MVP to play with another team the following year, had earlier signed with his hometown Clippers in the off-season.
"I'm going to be connected with Kawhi for life because of what we achieved last year," Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said prior to the game.
"It's always great to see guys get a ring, especially when they're on your team now," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers.
