"On Friday, December 18, 2020, the President signed into law: S. 945, the ‘Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act,’ which requires certain issuers of securities to establish that they are not owned or controlled by a foreign government, specifically if the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board is unable to audit specified reports because the issuer has retained a foreign public accounting firm that is not subject to inspection by the Board," the release said on Friday.
According to the measure, passed earlier this month by the US House of Representatives and by the Senate in May, foreign companies are required to disclose if they are state-owned or controlled and should comply with US auditing standards , these companies are banned from trading on the US stock market .
This measure would stop China from cheating on the US stock exchanges, said Senator John Kennedy, who introduced the bill in March of 2019, and added that Beijing's failure to comply with US disclosure laws has already impacted integrity of financial markets as well as investor confidence.
Although US has entered into cooperative auditing agreements with foreign regulators, it has excluded China for such an agreement.

This had angered Trump and his supporters and they have planned the Washington rally with marches around the US Capitol, the US Supreme Court and the Justice Department "with prayers for the walls of corruption and election fraud to fall down," according to StopTheSteal.com.
The plans refer to the biblical miracle of the battle of Jericho, in which the walls of the city crumbled after priests and soldiers marched around it.

Retired army general Mike Flynn, who twice pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about contacts with the former Russian ambassador, would reportedly speak from the high court steps.
Other people who are expected to attend the rally are Republican political donors and religious figures, including My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell and radio host Eric Metaxas.
There is a fear of a repeat of clashes that occurred Nov. 14 when an anti-Trump group called a rally near the White House today (Dec 12).

There is a likelihood that within day FDA would also give a green light to Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine of use in the US and that the health care workers and nursing home residents would be prioritized in getting the first shots early next week.
The FDA is expected to grant an emergency use authorization on Saturday in an effort to slow the spread of the virus with infections and deaths surge, reaching a record of more than 3,000 daily deaths on Wednesday.
The initial shipment of 6.4 million doses will leave warehouses within 24 hours subject to the FDA approval according to federal officials.
“With the high efficacy and good safety profile shown for our vaccine, and the pandemic essentially out of control, vaccine introduction is an urgent need,” Kathrin Jansen, a senior vice president and the head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer, said at the meeting.
When asked the US federal officials about the adverse reactions of this vaccine, Pfizer officials said that in the trial of 44,000 participants, there were no cases of serious allergic reactions adding that people with a history of allergic reactions to vaccines were excluded from the study.
At the same time, the US health regulators were also evaluating an equally complex emergency authorization application submitted by Moderna, whose data will be examined publicly during another FDA outside advisory meeting next week.

"It is a legal milestone and the first milestone that has that status," said Edward B. Foley, a law professor at Ohio State University and added,
"Everything prior to that was premised on what we call projections."
After receiving the results of the Electoral College vote these would be typically approved by Congress on Jan. 6.
"As a practical matter, we know that Joe Biden is going to be inaugurated on Jan. 20," Foley said.
That was clear in the days after the election with the count of mail ballots that Biden had won victories in enough states to win the Electoral College, and also when every swing state won by Biden certified him as the winner of its elections and appointed his electors to the Electoral College.
After three more states won by Biden — Colorado, Hawaii and New Jersey — certify their results, Biden will have 306 Electoral College votes to Trump's 232.
The electors along with their in each state will meet Dec. 14 to formally vote for the next president.
To resolve any dispute the Democratic-controlled House and Republican-controlled Senate would both vote separately.
