Winner of the Best Cinematography Award at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, the film recounts personal and intimate story of 43-year-old Chinese artist Maleonn (Ma Liang) presents an ambitious performance piece about time and memory when his father, the former artistic director of the Shanghai Chinese Opera Theater, is diagnosed with dementia.
Maleonn's hope that his presentation will unite them artistically and personally is shattered as time goes on, and his father's condition deteriorates.
The film is a meditation on art as we experience first hand Maelonn’s creative process, when he finds himself torn between the original goal to honor his father and the pressure of finding commercial success.
A personal touch is added to the film, which revolves around the themes of love and loss, the protagonist feels when he sees his father struggling with Alzheimers disease and becomes more aware of life’s complexities.
For anyone who has a loved one battling dementia and alzheimer's, this story will hit close to home. The filmmakers have crafted a loving look at the lengths loved ones go to care for those diagnosed with the disease.
Director-Producer, Yang Sun is a documentary director and cameraman based in Beijing and 'Our Time Machine' is his first feature-length documentary.
Director-Producer, S. Leo Chiang is a Taiwanese-American filmmaker based in San Francisco and Taipei, a recipient of a MFA in film production from University of Southern California, is the co-founder of A-Doc, the Asian American Documentary Network, and a documentary branch member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences.

The film is a tribute to America's first "Black Tonight Show" that aired directly from New York on public broadcasting from 1968-1973 at the height of the Black Power Movement and the Civil Rights Movement.
Hosted by Ellis Haizlip aka Mr. SOUL, hip, smart, innovative, political and gay, reveals his personal fight for social equality and ensured that the revolution would be televised. And that Revolution was his TV show SOUL! - an incredibly unique weekly television show that aired on public television from 1968 - 1973 celebrating Black American culture, art, life, love and community, which he shared with households across the nation in their living rooms every week.
"Our Mr. SOUL! PREMIERE KICKBACK will be just like a re-creation of the SOUL! show for a new audience, with these amazing guests in conversation with Amanda Seales. Amanda will moderate a conversation with both artists from the film and the original series, to talk about the cultural impact of SOUL! and its special guests, like James Baldwin and Nikki Giovanni, and the legacy of Ellis Haizlip and SOUL! for a millennial audience," says the film's director Melissa Haizlip. "Every week on SOUL!, Ellis featured our nation's cultural icons in front of and behind the camera, who then went on to become important cultural and artistic leaders in America. With the current ongoing Black Lives Matter movement, and as our nation is on the eve of a great racial reckoning, Ellis' mission, his show and the artists he gave a platform to have become even more important now. That inspiration and that courage during that time period is a road map for our young leaders and the movement today. I am so looking forward to this kickback with these artists and leaders."

#UKCinema; #CinemaFirst; #Campaign
United Kingdom, Aug 23 (Canadian-Media): United Kingdom (UK) cinema Commissioned by Cinema Plus launched a campaign Aug 20 in the form of a 90-second video, featuring clips from nearly 60 classic and contemporary films, rolled out across the websites and social channels of cinema operators and distributors, to attract audience back to cinemas, media reports said.
The Trailers for the clips included snippets from The Wizard Of Oz, Wonder Woman 1984, Ben Hur, the upcoming adaptation of Dune and James Bond feature No Time To Die.
Besides the promotion of UK cinema going, the campaign will also form the basis of a paid-for campaign that will see the trailer appear across Sky, Amazon, Facebook and Instagram among other outlets.
Media buying would be done by Group M, which was appointed last week.
Aug 26 would mark the opening of the first major studio opening since cinemas began to resume business on July 4.
The video, produced by creative agency Empire Design, would direct the viewers to lovecinema.com, which houses a search engine for cinemas and films.
The video also provides previously released safety infomercials and links to government-approved safeguarding measures for cinemas.
Around 80 percent of all screens in the UK are expected to be open by that point, said Iain Jacob, chair of Cinema First.

“With the lockdown easing, it took time for momentum to build and for the right number of cinemas to be open,” Jacob told Screen. “We were initially focussed on getting the safety area sorted, which took enormous effort. Now, with around 550 cinemas likely to be open when Tenet is released – out of just shy of 800 across the UK – there’s scale to run a proper national campaign.
“We hope this will ignite a fire and with the slate for the last quarter looking so good, it will hopefully pick up steam. There seems to be such a pent-up demand out there,” reported by Screen Daily.
To attract more audience, said Jacob, a breadth of different titles was essential.
“The global pandemic has had a colossal impact on the film industry, presenting cinemas across the UK with unprecedented challenges,” Jacob added. “As an industry that employs over 20,000 dedicated people, of which 40% are under the age of 30, they need our support.”
Core constituents for Cinema First includes the Film Distributors’ Association and the UK Cinema Association.
